Nearly 60,000 Christians gathered in the Netherlands for the four-day Opwekking Pentecost Conference, one of the largest Christian worship and prayer events in Europe.
The Netherlands is often considered one of the most secular countries in the world, yet the conference has become a visible sign of growing spiritual interest, particularly among younger generations. In 2025, roughly half of those attending were under the age of 30.
European evangelist Jean-Luc Trachsel described the event as a powerful moment for the church in Europe, saying that he believes the Holy Spirit is moving across the continent in a renewed way. The word “Opwekking” means “revival,” and the organization behind the conference says its mission is to follow Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Similar gatherings have also been taking place in other parts of Europe, including France, where tens of thousands of Christians have gathered in multiple cities for prayer, worship, and public expressions of faith. For many believers, these events are signs of renewed spiritual hunger and growing interest in Christianity among younger generations across Europe.
